last week was the single worst week of my life. well i guess it was two weeks ago. im just going to give a brief summary and then tell you what i think im learning thru all this!
1. on monday i found out my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer again and having surgery on thur. she had also stated that if it wasn't all removed she was not going to pursue chemo or radiation.
2. on tues i had to buy four new tires resulting in the spending of almost $500.
3. tuesday night on my way to Stl. one of the tires blew out on hwy. 70...thank god for AAA.
4. wed night i was late for meeting someone for coffee and i made an illegal left hand turn on hitt street. this resulted in a $75 ticket and some potential points on my license that i cannot afford. which means if i got them i would lose my license.
awesome huh? i was pretty sure that i was beyond cursed. the thing is that with each of these things my parents would normally have helped and taken care of them, comforted me, told me what to do, etc. but guess what? i don't live with my parents anymore nor do i depend on them for much at all. so its just me. all alone. all by myself.
or so i thought. but really God has really shown me HIS provision for my life thru a lot of these situations. i know HE is in control and HE is going to be with me. together, HIM and i are going to make it thru all this. AND he is going to teach me surrendering and patience.
Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message) says:
28-30"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
Matthew 6:33 (The Message)
30-33"If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
